Anyone who has ever played a video game should be familiar with HUDs that help you and aren't distracting.

Cars and aircraft have utilized HUDs for many years (not worn, but that's a limitation of technology at the time).

Maybe even something like HUDs in games that have the indicator overlays in the corners or mini map type system for receivers.

Sitting at a desk with a computer monitor much closer can also make a difference in what UIs (eg game HUDs) work well.

My best guess is that most online players are now "augmented," using at least PokerTracker (hands played databases) with HUDs (heads-up displays that overlay the game window and provide some significant statistical info based on mining hands and odds calculations without player input).

To rephrase: if HUDs work in such quick-response situations, in a vehicle with 100 times the complexity of your average car, 10 times the speed, and missiles against you, then sure the "average driver" can look at a HUD to see a new tweet, if he doesn't have to de-focus from the road with this technology.
