Maybe expensive for a hobbyist, but not much of a consideration for a company in production.

Looks like they charge $12 per gigabyte per month for PostgreSQL, $18 for Mongo, and there's absolutely no free/hobbyist tier.

But mostly, if you're a person who finds software development genuinely interesting (the hobbyist-type), you'll keep up on stuff basically recreationally.

None of the current solutions in development fall within my video and VR hobbyist/enthusiast budget but that never lasts too long.

In fact, the control code that many hobbyist 3d printers use is actually based on the control code used by CNC machines.

As out of the box hobbyist drones can already travel at 50 mph [1] (or more I assume).

With a little bit of 3D printing and some sort of hobbyist community nudging the gun/drone integration forward, it just sounds too easy.

Being a gamer & dev hobbyist I felt this would be a fun project - and it has been!

There's no need to be storing anywhere near that amount as a hobbyist.

Bear in mind, the average hobbyist 3d printer is going to take more then a couple hours to print anything of halfway decent size, so "oh you can just sit and watch it" isn't an answer.
