Anybody who looks at the failure of G+ without looking at Gundotra is missing a huge part of the plot.

Vic Gundotra brought his Microsoft mentality with him, and proceeded to use it on Google.

At one point, Gundotra was apparently in the running to be Microsoft's CEO (Gundotra was an ex-MS VP), and with Sundar taking over everything, Vic may have just decided to do other things.

If Page was the driving force, Gundotra would have put his office by Page's.

The one person at Google more wrong than Vic Gundotra still thinks that G+ failed because people didn't listen to HIM enough.

So there seems to be this case, Ellen Pao's and Vic Gundotra at Google?

I wouldn't necessarily characterize what Vic Gundotra said as harassing, either the compliment or the Sasha Grey comment.

I was glad when Vic Gundotra was fired, and I think even Facebook is better than the old days.

But I think the NYTimes review at the end imparts its own bias over the Gundotra story.

I looked up some history behind Google+ on Wikipedia and it looks like Vic Gundotra was behind that (footnotes removed).

Of those, the Google+ one is my favorite and I am glad Vic Gundotra got fired.

Gundotra announced his departure from the company that April — in a Google+ post, of course — to pursue "a new journey." The G+ push/force was still in full-swing on the consumer side through 2014.

As someone who worked at Google when Google+ was released, IMO the failure was all about Vic Gundotra.

The way I read it, you and the article are deflecting the blame away from Page and at Gundotra.

The description of Vic Gundotra, if true, is disappointing.
