The concept is really interesting, is there an equivalent of DeveloperAuction in Europe?

Try hired.com, formerly developerauction.com With Hired, companies need to show you a salary before they can request to interview you.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the author, Matt Mickiewicz, runs developerauction.com.

Appreciate you're insight here, if anyone knows first hand, I'd imagine it'd be you with your experience on developerauction.

This feels like a badly done DeveloperAuction/Hired clone with an anonymous aspect.

And other folks in the space, like DeveloperAuction, charge more (Google around).

I will add one more observation to the discussion, I found the entire DeveloperAuction process completely opaque and thoroughly mystifying.

Guess I am not what the start-ups signed up for DeveloperAuction's services are looking for.

My experience (back when Hired was known as DeveloperAuction) is that most of the 'offers' I received were completely impersonal and disingenuous.

I also noted that DeveloperAuction uses Craigslist and LinkedIn to hire their own programmers.

Honestly this is just a PR piece for DeveloperAuction.

Even at DeveloperAuction we get clueless recruiters pitching us Java Engineers in NYC (We're rails in SF) and sending us "blinded" resumes with personally identifiable contact details removed.

Based on the thousands of offers from hundreds of start-ups that I've seen DeveloperAuction, that is definitely a little bit on the low end for a "late stage" startup (Series B+?) company, but you're not horribly far off.

"They have a smaller job pool to choose from, but in the tech industry (context of most HN discussions about H1s), there really isn’t a shortage of employers willing to file." To quantify, on DeveloperAuction we've found that Engineers on H1B's get an average of 32% fewer job opportunities than citizens/green card holders.
