Helping to curate a site that brings that many people joy? We should all be so lucky.

There is no "we", unless you're trying to curate opinion and create an echo chamber.

I also agree that Apple has a right to curate their store. But I disagree that the only store I should be allowed to buy from is Apple's.

But you have to actively use the tools provided to curate your experience. I don't friend people on Facebook that I haven't met in real life.

I highly suggest you curate the quality of your posts, users and comments. Perhaps, even at the expense of potential users.

If you decide to stick with SaaS, I hope you curate better and streamline the deal, but frankly I'm looking forward to a Bundle of installed apps instead.

I do believe they have the right to curate their store, but I think they should do it more vigorously and reject every single shitty app, and ban those developers. App Store is getting filled with these crap...

There's no reason to curate information that you wanted to get to begin with. What if Twitter implemented something like this where certain tweets from a person you are following do not appear?

At the end of the day, the website sells the same stuff that you'd find at any lower-priced mass retailer and doesn't appear to actually curate its supposedly personalized "my shop" based on my answers. Some more impressions.

If you were to use every Google service including Android, ChromeOS etc, they would be able to curate every piece of information you consume. This is what the Google Filter Bubble concept pointed out very clearly.

You could easily imagine it being possible for moderators to hand-curate the "Best of" view in the future. There is also an "aggregated links" view that aggregates all of the outbound links from a thread and shows how many times they have been clicked on.

Perhaps they simply want to create a community that discourages "Ugh. I'm tired of people trying the same old crap to curate content," and encourages If someone wants to take the next step in internet content curation then they need to adapt a netflix style algorithm.

In light of those user experience failures on the part of Facebook, your opinion is "curate it yourself" but my opinion is "Facebook has failed when I curate it myself". If I want to curate it myself, I won't use a walled garden feed system like Facebook...

The Internet comes along and you have things like Usenet and the proto-Web. Then comes the first crowdsourcing sites to allow people to find content without employing people to curate that information. Slashdot was certainly early in this trend.

While that's part of the attraction, I think to really understand Pinterest you should probably understand three use cases: why you'd curate, why you'd care about what an actual friend curated, and why you'd care about what a stranger curated. It's the interaction between these three which causes Pinterest to spread like wildfire. A bridal magazine curated by your bff is not just a bridal magazine.

In my opinion, if Dustin is showing off his thing with a key "feature" being "invitation only", then it seems open season for someone else to think "Fair enough, if you think curated bloggers is a key differentiating feature, then me launching a similar service _without_ that key feature seems OK". In one sense - people seem to love having their ideas "validated" by new startups claiming "We're $existingThing for $newMarket"." We're HipMonk for dogs!" We're GoogleAnalytics for yoga retreats!" "We're Svbtle for non-celebrity-bloggers!" What Dustin made is very nice. He may very well be able to curate bloggers in a way that makes it wildly successful - I hope he does, I'll cheer him on.
