The article is addressing millennials at large who all want to share the responsibilities of child-rearing and bread-winning.

The OP is absolutely correct in that many people will find it better to specialise in child-rearing and income-generation for a two-parent family.

After all, unless your parents are pack rats or you've got older siblings who have recently passed through the early stages of child-rearing, who keeps this stuff around?
