French butter: more salt Bretagne butter: crunchy salt crystals.

In France, in « Bretagne », butter and fat is everywhere in the traditional food since centuries and that never caused the same issues as industrial food.

My guess: In France everything concentrates in Paris, while other popular sites are 'diluted' (there is not the spot in Provence, Normandy or Bretagne where everyone takes pictures).

On a more serious note, the Bretagne independence movement used to be quite strong (relatively speaking) until the mid- to late-1990s, I can see some people still not being happy with the Paris administration sending airplanes upon their lands.

Being the kid that I was, with no internet access because the late '80s and no TV program to speak of, I of course devoured it, so that I can remember from those maps that Italy and France each of them had one tidal power unit installed, France somewhere around Bretagne or Normandy, Italy somewhere on the Tyrrhenian coast, near Grosseto (I might be slightly off with the Grosetto thing, though).

We're all French living in Greater Brittany, "Grand Bretagne", it's not a value judgement.

I suspect the "great" Britain distinguishes it from the other Britain which is a nearby French province, ie "Grande Bretagne" vs "Bretagne".

We use "Grande Bretagne" for Great Britain.

(Dr Martins do a range called "For Life" which would last even longer still.) Some good quality wool sweaters (bretagne or faroe) can be expensive, long lasting, and without current trendy design.

Ma family is from very sunny French Provence, and my brother married a girl from very not sunny Bretagne.

Does the global average count where most people live, or does it average New York and Mexico City with rural Idaho and Bretagne?

Fun fact: there is, in fact, a Little Britain—Brittany (Bretagne) in France, across the Channel from England.
