If you live in SF, go to the Booksmith on Haight street and look up on the walls on the left side of the store.

(Has anyone here been to the basement of Brookline Booksmith or the tiny room in Rodney's Books on Mass Ave?) Bookstores are as important to Boston as jogging along the Esplanade, chilling in the Common, coffee shops and bars.

I’m partial to used books - Commonwealth - Brattle - Brookline Booksmith - Harvard - Rodney’s (though it moved) Also if you like old bookstores you’d probably find The book “in praise of good bookstores” a delightful read.

For many years I have done active outreach work to the homeless youth there as well as risk reduction community mediation meetings between homeless kids, their outreach service workers, and local residents (some of these meetings have taken place at The Booksmith).
