Someone needs to cross-correlate this with bedbug reports.

I was a regular user of the sf library until we found a dead bedbug in a book. It's just not worth the hassle of potentially infesting my apartment.

As much as you and I think Internet access is important, most NYC tenants care more about location, bedbug history, sunlight, etc.

The bedbug life is 1% programming and 99% angry/despondent/litigious email.

The people who put their apartments reap all the benefits, while subjecting their neighbors to increased chances of robbery, increased chances of bedbug/infestations, increased noise complaints, etc.

Hotels are required to mitigate the bedbug threat with a level of thoroughness that simply is impossible unless the building owner is aware that there's a hotel operating under their roof. I would be mighty pissed if I found a AirBnb in my building, as that dramatically raises everyone's risk of infestation.

This is needed, because the bedbugregistry seems abandoned and has submission errors where you can't add new entries to some addresses. One problem is legal backlash, I would have hosted this overseas like the bedbugregistry did to prevent takedown notices and lawsuits. This is helpful when dealing with lying landlords who claim there was never a problem until you moved in, so it must be something you did and refuse to pay for treatment, refund damage deposits and generally screw you over. Then you go on one of these bug registry sites and discover they've had bedbug infestations for years.

It's strangers over the internet - the same that report bedbug issues if you google for those terms. Bedbugs are spread by travelers, sometimes NYC hotels are to even blame.
