If someone fed me that "I am here to find out how I can help you and your business to succeed" line in an interview I'd struggle not to write them off as a B-school ass-kisser. There's nothing genuine about it.

Ask inane softball questions, talk the guest up, agree with everything said, and generally make himself seem like an enormous ass-kisser. Praise the guests wisdom and insight.

For example, a boss I considered to be trying his best is considered by others as an upper management ass-kisser who would back stab any of his team members in a heart beat to get ahead. This is working off the same information as I had.

I've lost count of how many times I've seen two people together where one changed to accommodate the other partner and ended up being a perpetual ass-kisser, leaving everything and everyone behind while under constant control of his/her significant other. The other person may never be happy and this can end very bad for both parties involved.

Personally, I know that I would never feel OK working there, so I don't see the point of trying to pretend I'm an ass-kisser in interviews. I actually am an agreeable person, overall; I just want to find a place to work that will be OK working with me, not with some extremely different false face I have to spend a huge amount of energy putting on every day just to get paid there.
