Security updates are regularly served both in mainline and -current (rolling) repositories, along with dedicated security advisories.

It's not like patches and vague advisories were going to keep the exploit under wraps.

The company hunts for hackers by combing through security blog posts and email advisories to get a handle on possible threats.

That doesn't make it unreasonable to complain about exploits being released in advisories (though: this is a complaint that is approximately as old as security advisories), but it should dampen the outrage a bit.

It is really sad they way they treat vulnerabilities and security advisories.

I did however write many of the OpenBSD security advisories, and participated in the audit.

I'm using the OpenBSD term, since it's what I got started with in the early 90's, when I wrote the OpenBSD advisories.

I wish they would write these advisories in a slightly more helpful fashion.

A lot of serious security advisories affecting closed source programs often don't become exploits in the wild due to the nature of closed source and the impied secrecy involved.

For a day or two following a rainstorm there are advisories to avoid swimming at the beach because all that crap goes into the ocean and makes it hazardous.

What advantage do I gain from this over periodically running various distro tools that compile CVEs and security advisories into a flat file database and search on top of that, e.g.

In the past they've posted advisories in their "Security & Vulnerabilities" forum[1], but I don't see one for this particular issue yet.

Seems like either the FAA needs to start broadcasting their flight restriction advisories a bit more broadly (now that they need to be heeded by more and more people), or people who fly multirotors need a basic "here's how you follow the rules of the sky" course when they buy one.
