So, can someone shed some light on why Oracle is still interested in developing VBox further?

Multiple dev environments, dev env resets, using something other than vbox are a few for local.

The VirtualBox issue is long standing, it's caused by the fact that vbox is setuid.

VBox with Mint is fast enough for development work (no usb 3 support yet).

I've been trying to get Yosemite to install on VBox w/ Ubuntu as the host to no avail.

I use wine all the time with no problems, and vbox right-ctrl-f seems a pretty easy key combo!

Yeah, the filesystem for VBox got significantly better (use to have to use a custom ISO to get volume shares to work properly).

Sounds cool but I'm kind of reluctant to run a VBox only described by a pastebin-like bit of text.

Right now I can't update to the latest VBox version because its display driver is incompatible with my Linux version.

Sun was doing it to sell their hardware but Oracle can do that without the need for VBox, purely with the popularity of their database.

Seems a regression for vbox 4.3.14, I downgraded to 4.3.12 and rerun the whole process.

Usually, resetting the vbox subnets (I had major issues with those) does the job.
