It's a purile fantasy that their is a cabal of mustache twirlers, sabotaging medical discovery.

No politicians or mustache twirlers want it to happen and yet it keeps occurring.

The only thing different between now and 2007 is that I don't see as many sign twirlers on corners.

It's easier (and probably feels better) to make them all out to be mustache twirlers, but it's more of a convenient truth than reality.

I don't like government, but companies sucking up everyone's data for sale right now certainly seem like mustache twirlers to me.

I doubt that most politicians or mustache twirlers are terribly concerned that marijuana legalization distracts people from, say, domestic spying or military interventions.

The mustache-twirlers engineering MS into a chronic manageable disease rather than curing it would simply be outcompeted and put out of business by the straight-mustached cure owners.

But it doesn't make Ed Catmull or the executives at every other firm involved in these pacts evil moustache-twirlers that exist only to steal from the middle-class, and we shouldn't be so quick to throw our own under the bus.

We would not do that on principle, but imagine we're the mustache twirlers you fantasize we are: we'd light our brand on fire doing any such thing, lose all our lead users, stop growing and start shrinking.

If you believe the mustache-twirlers are capable of suppressing knowledge of a viable cure, I'm going to have fun selling you on a lot of more-plausible conspiracy theories; for instance, the faked moon landing, which would have required less collusion and been less impactful to the world.

By what mechanism are these upper class mustache-twirlers "setting cultural norms" for the rest of us?

Again, we don't need to jump right into "business people are evil moustache-twirlers" every time employee-employer relations come up.

It wont take many sign twirlers on every corner, or people driving up and down your neighborhood at all hours of the day with a "ad truck" to be more annoying than the worst of youtube's advertising.
