It’s linked with human health hazards but is less dangerous than the crocidolite variant.

Western European countries (including Spain, I am guessing) and Australia tended to use the most dangerous varieties of asbestos - crocidolite and amosite.

It must be mentioned that this is about blue asbestos, or crocidolite, which is the most dangerous form of asbestos, but was relatively rarely used and the first to be banned.

While Asbestos isn't good the 2 types of Asbestos that actually pose a major health risk Amosite and Crocidolite are also the modern types of Asbestos that were discovered in the 19th century.

Apparently South Africa was the world's second-largest market-economy producer of asbestos from the 1950s to the 1980s and the largest producer of amosite and crocidolite (I had to google those and it appears among asbestos there are a few different types/lengths of fibers).

Crocidolite "blue asbestos" was first banned long ago due to its severe effects, but chrysotile (white asbestos) is far less dangerous.

Crocidolite is the form found in brake pads.

Recent studies have linked asbestos exposure to an increased risk of ovarian cancer, particularly among people who used asbestos-contaminated talcum powder.
