Concentrative type meditation (deep samadhi states, jahnas) is somewhat different experience because it shuts down most sensations.

In more formal traditions the focus on breath (or similar) is to develop concentration/samatha/samadhi.

They are typically discussions between teacher and students on nature of mind, intellect, ego, meditation, samadhi etc.

I had done a course called, 'sahaj samadhi' (loose translation in english: calm meditation) from Art of Living foundation.

Finally, what you talk about with "focus" and "flow of focus" -- that is concentration, that is samadhi.

Right mindfulness defines the environment in which mental happiness arises starts the process of deep concentration (or single mindedness citass'ekaggata): "Samma-satissa samma-samadhi pahoti" - In him who has right mindfulness, right concentration progresses.

Same with "concentration" (samadhi), "insight" (vipassana), "life-energy" (prana), and so on and so forth.

With respect to your comment on the yogi: note that most yogi follow some number of vows [0] and abstentions [1] that seem to me to be very much an attempt at "controlling it." Eventually I guess they don't need to "control it" anymore, once they reach Samadhi, but in practice the path of the Yogi is typically one of repression.

Samadhi, which is considered a state of deep bliss is considered reached when the mind becomes completely still for 1000 seconds.

Samadhi is impossible, but get close enough it's surely where hegelian thought is integrated, in the watchful silence below symbolic thought.
