What is the analogy to Oculus Rifts actually mean?

He says that the current system is handing out Oculus Rifts and water-jetpacks to everyone.

Rather than elongating; the rifts will join and will connect northward to the Red Sea.

It's not necessary to have super perfect ultra realistic scenes, people play minecraft and watch movies perfectly happily with their rifts after all.

Unfortunately, talking about water jetpacks and occulus rifts break your analogy wide open.

Maybe if we stopped handing out Oculus Rifts and Water Jetpacks, we'd have a good system?

One downside to this approach is that it can tend to create status or power rifts between the product people and the tools people.

It was a cool prototype, and should be even more useful with the new generation of Rifts.
