Who has multiple implementations of the same codecs (2 prores decoders, at least 2 prores encoders) or libraries (2 resampling libraries)?

It doesn't even need to be a perfect copy, ProRes is so good that most consumers wouldn't notice the difference.

These include Apple ProRes, Avid DNxHD and the stalwart DV format (as in MiniDV tapes).

We need to take 4k video in photojpeg, red, and prores and at least turn that into different resolutions of photojpeg.

Pixlet was an intraframe intermediate codec (a predecessor to ProRes), not a delivery codec.

At a different gig I built a linux x264 batch transcode cluster that accepted, among other formats, Apple ProRes.

I work in VFX and we only use OSX when when we absolutely have to(read prores).

The Cinedecks use SSDs like cartridges, and will record 1080p 4:4:4 ProRes.

Finally, Zencoder supports formats like ProRes 422, that Amazon may not (I haven't seen a list of input formats yet).

SSDs can do fine even on USB3 with 4k ProRes 4444 files.

Their new ProRes accelerator chiplet is so good they can’t even compete.

Bear in mind that the comparison here is against ProRes 4:4:4, which encodes I-frames only.

> I assume this is an unbiased opinion as much as it can be but could you elaborate on what about FFmpeg is a "mess." Examples: 2 prores decoders, 2 prores encoders (or 3), 2 different resampling libraries, libstagefright integration that does not work, more global context structures compared to libav, etc...
