There isn't actual evidence in favor of pleurisy, just the inability to find something else wrong.

Not even a diagnosis of pleurisy, or a diagnosis of anything at all.

In fact, according to mine, cardiologists provide more diagnoses of pleurisy than pulmunologists.

My partner was misdiagnosed with flu when it was pneumonia which then developed into pleurisy (I'd never seen either of the latter, but was telling the doctor that's what the symptoms looked like - 15 years later he still suffers pain from the pleurisy).

Pleurisy seems to be the catch-all default diagnosis for when they can't find anything wrong and just want you to go away.

Pleurisy usually takes months to resolve.
