So if androstadienone & estratetraenol are not 'pheromones' but do influence human behavior, would you call that debunking?

Ants wander around, dropping different pheromones (food, alarm,...) and exhibiting surprisingly complex behavior for an RTS of the time.

Both the location and density of pheromones are meaningful to the decision-making process of an individual ant.

They live unique lives, exactly like mammalian termites, with a queen mother and a lot of pheromones.

That's not even the same sort of thing as ants dropping pheromones, which is trivial to model on a computer.

If an ant doesn't have a trail of pheromones to follow, it will wander using its senses to find food.

And a huge chunk of what governs an ant's life is response to environment chemicals, particularly pheromones produced by other ants.

You need to organize an entire complex system of pheromones and ant-conga lines just to find point B (usually a food location).

We are like ants waiting for other civilizations to communicate with us using pheromones.

So clearly people use sent clues even without pheromones.

They can "read" pheromones from any adjacent cell.

The thing I'm most curious about is how to get this working within more "natural" constraints: i.e., ants in real life can't emit pheromones on their entire path history, only their current location.

Bees that are placed in a hive that is not their own will "switch sides" to the new hive within a few hours to days after being placed nearby - the pheromones the queen gives off links them together.

When the hive releases signals (pheromones?) like "We're under attack", "It'a getting cold", or "New young are due", the individual bees pick it up and hence release the stored chemicals which poison them.
