Significantly more so than the oil-fired boiler frequently found in the basement of a big-city apartment building.

If customer demand for electricity grows high enough, there's no reason oil-fired electrical plants won't arise on a large scale.

Heating is a mix of oil-fired boilers, wood, solar water heating, and probably the occasional portable few kW electric heater.

I was recently in a situation where I had to replace my oil-fired heating system’s oil tank (it wasn’t double skinned and no longer safe).

I have my hot water piggybacked on the oil-fired condensing boiler unit that's also used for my central heating, and I doubt I burn more than $250/year total on the hot water side of the equation (in a 4-bed, 4-bath house).

So why not downplay it, with "wood-fired, coal-fired, oil-fired, or nuclear-fired - when the steam can reach over 1,000 degrees, a major mistake can result in fatal tragedy...".

Oil-fired is now so expensive that it should be an easy sell to replace, not to mention the hassles of delivery.
