octante

Interesting, I knew Swiss said octante and my Belgian friends all say octante as well.

Other francophone countries just say octante (Belgium, Canada, some areas of France) or huitante (mainly Switzerland).

And so on and so forth for 80 (octante in BE) and 90 (nonante).

Sad fact: French Canadian don't use the (much better) Swiss/Belgian septante/octante/nonante and the awareness in Quebec just isn't high enough to hope for a switch.

I thought nonante (and septante, octante) were only used in Zwitserland and Belgium?

Septante, huitant/octante and nonante are real French words.

I would prefer the Belgian way of octante/nonante.

I also followed a few Swiss YouTubers a few years ago and they all said "octante" as well.

I don't know about French banks, but belgians don't say "octante", seems to be a common misconception!

So I'm guessing "octante" is still used in some French-speaking places, although not that widely.

Ha, I only knew of octante, I dd not know there was a "huitante".

Octante as far as I know has been dead for a while and is not used anywhere, in Switzerland or elsewhere.
