Be careful, you just claimed that Motionloft is an enormous fraud.

We had a MotionLoft installed in our store and while it was not tremendous value to us, it struck me as a pretty decent idea.

Ultimately Motionloft was more marketing than tech driven and I bailed right around the time Mills hoovered up all the money.

More likely is that Mills saw the writing on the wall, that his opportunity with MotionLoft was crashing and burning, and he chose to go out with a fraudulent bang.

I have thought since first learning about Motionloft that this could be a big business but I don't understand why both companies refuse to just sell the hardware.

Mills is no longer part of Motionloft (Joyce Rietman is the CEO, effective December 1), and the validity of the investments his friends made while he was there is being called into question by earlier investors.

Nobody should feel sorry for him, I was the CTO of Motionloft during the first two years of the company, and before he started stealing from the company (as far as we know).

As predicted, the top post on an HN thread about the FBI arresting the fraudster behind Motionloft found a way to criticize law enforcement; here, because even though Motionloft seems self-evidently to be an enormous fraud, enforcement of the laws against fraud are merely a tool of the rich.

"A sausage lunch spot in downtown San Francisco called Showdogs apparently determined its busiest hour (between 12pm and 1pm) by using Motionloft sensors." They really needed Motionloft sensors to tell them that the busiest time for a downtown lunch spot would be Noon???

Yeah it's quite a high horse considering JP got canned for embezzling money from Motionloft.

I spent years of my life building Motionloft, and it was thrown away but this selfish asshole.
