He still MOOs daily, but he mostly just sits idling in Lambda House's smoking room while he goes about his business at work.

A few years went by and suddenly playing MUD / MOOs was free.

This is why I loved (the idea of) MUDs/MOOs so much in the mid/late '90s.

All the talkers still use it and all the MUDs/MOOs etc.

In order to provide a meaningful frame of reference, you would compare the moos of said cow with other cows to make such a comparison.

Never went by my real name on MOOs, but I was on a bunch of them going originally by Phaedrus then Kirlan.

MOOs (based on LambdaMOO at least) had various write permission levels, including builder (you can make new instances of existing things like rooms or objects and give them descriptions) and programmer (you can make new programs, written in a neat prototype-based language).

Usenet, e-mail, IRC, MUDs, MOOs, Gopher (and before that BBS) etc all required multiple sentences to explain, but they are the literal roots of the Internet, and how many of us got our start.

I'm talking like old school MOOs and MUDs but modernized -- or something with a 2d "Zelda overworld" or "isometric" UI even.
