There used to be a glacial lake over what is now Missoula Montana which would have current day Missoula under 1,000 feet of water.

Boise, Bozeman or Missoula are mountain towns with young tech/startup cultures where you can still have a huge impact.

I'd say Helena is catching up in a big way with the social attractions of Missoula and Bozeman.

Missoula is actually relatively temperate compared to the surrounding area — it's encircled by mountains, which helps quite a bit.

Outside of Helena, in Bozeman and Missoula, there is a much larger startup community that's really starting to take off.
