We have been doing contract work for DoD for the past few years, developing memristor based processors for them.

No, this is not memristors (unless you consider PCM to be a memristor) and it has no relation to crossbar-inc.com.

However, the speed and density claims make doubt if in reality this is or not the same as the memristor.

Transistors took ~6 years before they were sold in commercial products, and you can already buy a memristor on a chip.

Our 16 pin package is the newest offering in our Neuro-Bit line of memristor products.

It just saddens me that HP borked the whole memristor fabrication issue with their Machine project (a non-von-Neumann architecture would be fun to toy with).

The memristor patents might be an issue as well.

Although a binary memristor at scale might be more interesting as a memory (eg ReRAM), at this scale meant for neuromorphic analog applications, it becomes utterly uninteresting.

I believe the original idea for a memristor came about in 1971 [1].

A bit a disappointment, I thought memristor would be big in near future.

If it's memristor memory, the main advantages are that it's cheap, uses hugely less power than flash, takes up less space, and has far lower latencies.

I'm looking forward to his take on the recent thing about memristor machines being able to solve NP-complete problems...it was on HN a couple of days ago.

Wasn't sure if you had misspelled "memristor" or if there was some sort of aquatic resistor I had not heard of.

Lets just forget about this "memristor" PR-nonesense.

It's just a hysteresis curve, which I believe is effectively the "mem" part of "memristor".

Since it's Boise, I'll put money on these guys being either former HP or Micron employees that probably got their memristor IP as part of their golden parachutes now that "The Machine" is gone.
