There is a ferry from Larkspur but transit connectivity and parking are limited.

It is a direct competitor to Judy Diamond, Mi-Edge, and Larkspur data.

I live in Marin and could recite you from memory the Larkspur ferry schedule without blinking.

But if I did, take the ferry from Larkspur to the SF Ferry Building.

Before this I lived in San Rafael and larkspur in Marin county which also have nice downtowney areas surrounded by single family homes.

Much of suburban Marin County is a paradise in this regard - the Ross Valley cities of Ross, Larkspur (not larkspur landing), Kentfield, San Anselmo and Fairfax[1] are full of kids of all ages riding their bikes and walking to school every day.

The fastest public transit option was to take a 40 minute bus to Larkspur Landing, then a 30 minute ferry to the SF Ferry building, walk for 20 minutes, and then take Caltrain for 45 minutes or more and then walk from there.

Then a 45-60 minute ride to Palo Alto, but again the transfers aren't timed (they couldn't be, given the difference of where the bus dropoff is) The second real alternative is replacing the first bus leg with a ferry leg by going to Larkspur Landing.

That may not have generalised to the Golden Gate crossing, but there's evidence that the bus service there is insufficient - the Larkspur ferry was operating at above nominal capacity at peak hours, which suggests that there's meaningful demand for public transit that isn't being satisfied by the buses.

In any case, he just has to make it to Larkspur, as the ferry takes him directly to work.

The main ones that I've used frequently are the Sausalito, Larkspur, and Oakland/Alameda ferries.

At least pedestrians and cyclists can make use of it, I've done multiple bike rides from The Sunset to Marin/Sausalito/Larkspur via the GGB.
