Map makers always are in a tough spot when nations disagree about the places and landforms they are depicting.

Some extant landforms, such as the Appalachian Mountains, are older than terrestrial life.

I imagine then that all the landforms are related to outflow of melt-water from the glaciers as they receded.

The islands are actually what the Dutch called polders; they’re landforms that farmers created, beginning in the nineteenth century, by draining natural wetlands.

Do they point out that other landforms (that had no glaciers or a more solid basin) have no such record of changing tide marks.

People should really try to step up and make landforms that are modeled after tectonic activity and create biomes based on weather patterns and ocean current.

Relatively less detail I'm sure but Raven Maps has a beautiful large laminated wall map of landforms and drainage in the continental US.

Loma Prieta was pretty serious, particularly closer to the epicenter (and as I recall, damage sort of hopped and skipped among geologically unstable landforms for quite some distance).

When coming from other countries that largely have one climate or only a few landforms it can be overwhelming to understand it's all here to view and most of it has infrastructure in it too.

I appreciate that information and for anyone else interested in glacial landforms I found a great Story Map to shows in DEM models and in photos what you would expect to see post-glaciation.

There's some discussion on the French OpenStreetMap list about using it in semi-automated fashion to improve French coverage on OSM, especially for things like landmarks and landforms outside of the major cities, or adding metadata to existing landmark nodes.

If you are interested in the geology of Scotland, there are excellent books available, including "Land of Mountain and Flood: The Geology and Landforms of Scotland".

Also, traditionally they're territorial over large areas (eg: quarter the size of the UK) but over the course of a lifetime commonaly travel all corners of tat area - "randomly dropped" means they'll recognise vegetation, landforms, spot shadows, see water flow trace on the ground from up high looking out..

This discovery is significant because it suggests the Moon's interior may be more dynamic than previously thought.
