Let's be honest: Kopelman is one of the good guys, and First Round as a whole is one of the great firms.

It's a term coined by Josh Kopelman to describe the gap between something being free and something having a price - no matter how cheap it is.

Another example of the toxicity of this was when I saw Rena Kopelman (of the Kopelman Foundation) giving a talk about how to increase diversity and opportunity for under-privileged groups.

At this point Kopelman appeared properly annoyed.

I have the impression that people like Wilson and Kopelman are at the forefront of an emerging wave of VC: leaner and better aligned with founders.

Which may well be hackers, but also may not depending on the app--as has been pointed out in the past by Josh Kopelman the Tech Crunch 50,000 of 2006 (or even 550,000 of 2007) is not the mass market.
