I'm sure a lot would consider van gogh or Klimt to be "traditional" art when they're very much modern artists.

Also, even with "real art", Der Kuss (by Klimt) is widely regarded as being good art, beautiful, romantic, etc.

(Now one I will say "it's terrible", to the horror of those that love it, is Der Kuss by Klimt: the woman's head is at such an angle it seems to have been disconnected from her body, rotated 90°, and reattached at the ear).

The tapestry can be appreciated, like Klimt's 2-D-ish stuff can be appreciated.

The only way you could make that claim is if the aim of Klimt's work, its form, makes legitimate such heavy use of gold.
