Except Cameron wants to backdoor end-to-end encryption like iMessage/Whatsapp, rather than mess with something like SSL.

They think Apple has gone to great lengths just to implement their end-to-end iMessage encryption...

Are you telling me that those same lawyers don't have iPhones and don't use iMessage even more than they do Telegram?

Simpler applications, like iMessage, can and do implement end-to-end encryption without much difficulty at all.

That leads to an interesting security question: How is Apple's iMessage lookup service protected?

So even if it is end-to-end, they still have a copy of everything on their servers, unless you disable the iMessage syncing.

You can't facetime or iMessage with an iPerson if you don't have an iDevice.

And who uses SMS anyway when you have Whatsapp, Hangouts, iMessage, FB Messenger etc.

I couldn't find anything about the dictionary, admittedly I didn't look very hard, but iMessage is opt-in.

When they announced iMessage they said they would make it an open standard.

This problem is not specific to TextSecure, it also exist with iMessage and whatsapp as far as I know.

When you send a text message from one iOS device to another, it will be blue if it was sent via iMessage, green otherwise.

On their QuickType page they say "your conversation data is kept only on your device, so it’s always private." That's a lie because iMessage and your keyboard Dictionary are synced to iCloud which isn't your device.
