SK Hynix said the global memory chip shortage could stretch toward the end of the decade.

The 512MB Hynix ram sticks would have come from the factory, while the 2GB micron sticks would have been an upgrade.

We might see computation embedded inside memory (I think Hynix did this recently but I couldn't find a link).

There was also a large fire at a Hynix Fab plant that produced RAM which caused memory prices to spike for a while.

Production is actually falling this year compared to last for Samsung and Hynix (there was an article on here a few days ago?).
