Are you referring specifically to a solution build with Hangfire or any solution involving worker processes on Windows?

HangFire provides you a unified programming model for background job processing on shared, dedicated and cloud hosting.

NET developer who dabbles in Node and have been looking for a Hangfire alternative for a while.

NET is built around a scheduler, HangFire is built on top of message queues.

If instead you need to schedule a nightly cleanup job or ensure jobs survive application restarts, Hangfire would be the better choice.

I didn't try to do so, but there is nothing to prevent HangFire to run on Mono.

Web for HangFire Dashboard, so Linux and MacOS will be supported.

Perhaps this is obvious but if you aren't running your own server, your web app (and Hangfire along with it) can stop running during a period of inactivity.

The only thing I ever plugin that's not a MS library really are serilog, validation with FluentValidation, and a job server, usually Hangfire just because it's easy.

Hangfire with few plugins can be an absolute godsent in 99% of situations i've encountered.

Hangfire works on the backend to actually fetch new data at appropriate intervals.

Despite that, i've used, use, and will continue to use Hangfire, as it's a great tool!
