A voting system like HackerNews wouldn't work, because Geoff Hinton's vote should count for a lot more than my vote.

Everything Geoff said is true but he makes it seem like this is around the corner and it isn't even close.

Hugo Larochelle's youtube course [2], Geoff Hinton's Coursera course [3], and Nando's youtube Deep Learning course [4] are all very good.

And I really doubt that people like Andrew Ng or Geoff Hinton or Sebastian Thrun were asked to invert binary trees....

This might happen, but I think Geoff is a little too breathless here.

That said, I think the Geoff fellow put it best when he commented on the post: "Sure, Google is great at the tech, but they are a bit weak when it comes to building 'places'.

Geoff Hinton also appears to believe that the biological neural signals are interpreted in a binary way.

Geoff is certainly one of the more creative people I've come across.
