If you have a lot of unknown processing in the future, things can get dicey.

This is where utilizing a product company's platform can be very morally dicey. They offer a platform for others to build on, because it raises the value of their company by making it more pervasive.

This can be dicey because the startup might hire people above you as it grows, defeating the purpose of that move. If you join a startup as the first programmer and end up answering to an MBA-toting VP before your equity is fully vested, you've been fucked.

While this example is silly because no-one has any intrinsic motivation to take out the trash, it gets really dicey when you add rewards to things like reading. Are they reading to develop a love of reading, or for the carrot you put at the end?

The problem I have with systems like this is that I've worked at a company that says this, but it can get dicey. To their credit they really did mean take vacation when you want to, but to them, what that meant was, feel free to take a week or two if you want, or a random day if it pukes on the hill.

That is an improvement over the mess of an O-1 or a dicey Tourist visa. A long time ago when the robotics club invited some Japanese Sumo robot competitors over there was a tremendous fuss over what sort of Visa they could get.

Around 10 years ago I started to approach situations that were dicey by making the assumption that the other person was having a bad day. In addition to helping prevent situations from escalating out of control this has had a calming effect on me.

Things were dicey for a while, but eventually corruption all but disappeared in daily life. The United States has as one of its founding principles that powers must be separated, so here if you do take a bribe, there are multiple independent agencies that can come after you, and most importantly, send you to jail and take away your ill-gotten wealth.

Single family homes in the outer boroughs will have almost no yellow cab coverage for pickup and finding a cab that will take you out of Manhattan can be dicey, although I guess those lime green cabs are meant to address that. SI, the Bronx and huge swaths of Brooklyn and Queens pickups will be almost non existant, people going from the outer boroughs will most likely use a car service.

Anytime you cross financial system borders, especially if you don't understand them or even understand that there is a border, things can get a bit dicey. I guess what I'm getting at is you're describing an emergent property of cross financial system transactions, nothing to do with BTC at all other being one particular example of a cross system border.

The solution is easy – allow them to hire good people in house at market rates and give them the needed support / autonomy – but that's politically dicey. This and your proposed solution are both likely to fail as long as Congress has a sizable contingent of people who benefit from problems, even those created by their policies, and everyone receives donations from companies which do business with the government.
