And for some oddball reason they have adopted dbus as their replacement for whatever QNX RPC they used before.

Specifically, dbus signals without a destination are routed to all connections with match rules (added with org.freedesktop.

So they want a in kernel dbus in the belief that it will spruce up performance.

And if kdbus hits the kernel, systemd is poised to position itself as the mediator between (legacy) dbus and kdbus.

There they have already adopted dbus into proprietary code, but find it to have lower performance than the QNX IPC/RPC they are used to.

I made a script that plays/pauses Spotify through dbus, which I usually execute by opening dmenu.

Notice how everything but dbus and the systemd lib have various issues.

If anyone wonders about dbus/kdbus, this[1] was asked on r/linux yesterday.

The few times I tried to run GUI programs through su I always got plenty of warning about DBus and stuff.

Wasn't that originally how dbus was and is now required?

So, I'm in favor of systemd, but not thrilled (dbus everywhere is annoying).

Dbus and systemd especially fail at the whole design angle.
