Agreed, it's 11pt Incosolata for me on my linux emacs, and 13pt Consolas on my windows emacs.

The WPF based one has so many problems with fonts other than Consolas and Courier New.

Alternatively, Consolas is really good (and free), especially on Windows with ClearType turned on.

I've been using Inconsolata for a while, mainly because I liked Consolas so much in Windows.

Call it stealing if you want, but here is a little tutorial on how to get the non-free Consolas font without buying anything from Microsoft.

I used Consolas for a while, but would highly recommend Office Code Pro.

I was a Consolas guy until I discovered Bitstream Vera Sans Mono.

Why do you compare Consolas with others?

I've been using Consolas for the last few years.

Some modern monospaced fonts are rather nice to look at, Consolas for example, and the ability to distinguish between 0O1l easily is an advantage for some fonts without having weird letter spacings.

I even installed my own Emacs 23 with freetype support at work, but after trying EnvyCodeR and Consolas and Anonymous and what have you, I went back to lucidasanstypewriter.

Then, there's the Apple Menlo/Monaco, Ubuntu Mono and derivatives, as well as Consolas and its derivatives which tend to focus on wider glyphs, as opposed to the narrowness and (longer?) line-heights of similar fonts to M+ 1m / Pragmata Pro?

I pasted the link content into.emacs, downloaded highlight-current-line, and changed the font to Courier New (don't have Consolas).

I'd love to see it done for other fonts like Source Code Pro, Consolas, Inconsolata, etc.

Onscreen I've been switching Excel's default to Consolas, which is more compact yet more readable.
