If you're downloading open source software on Windows, friendly reminder to get it via Chocolatey rather than ever clicking on a download button.

For Windows, Ninite covers a decent range of basic freeware and open source software, and Chocolatey covers a lot more but is less user-friendly.

I'm using Chocolatey to keep Git up-to-date, as at some point it was a recommendation.

Not too sure you can rely on Chocolatey to be direct..?

I've never had much success with Chocolatey (probably due to corporate firewall issues).

I do use chocolatey as much as possible for all windows installations.

On the assumption that executable does include the sourceforge malware, The silent install argument ("/S") passed to the executable by chocolatey seems to be the only reason its not installed along with filezilla.

From what I understand, it's more of a "package manager-manager" so it manages other systems (like Chocolatey) rather than running the repos itself.

Chocolatey put some binaries somewhere deep in the FS and hardlinked these in the start menu, no full integration.

Be careful with Chocolatey, it will install the software without unchecking those nastly tools: search bars, etc.

It looks like they currently are waiting to support Chocolatey, though that's kind of ridiculous.
