If you've seen chantrelles in the same spot for years and have never seen any doppelgangers in the area, you're a little more sure that what you have is actually chantrelles.

Ie: Chantrelles have a symbiotic relationship with Douglas Fir trees, so you're only going to find them around Douglas firs.

Maybe some of the more obvious edible types (boletes, chantrelles, some others) are fairly easy to identify, but even there they have stomach-upset causing relatives.

Me personally, I stick to 2 types of mushrooms: chantrelles and boletes.

I was about to post the same reaction to this article, because morels are even more distinctly identifiable than chantrelles, and of course, I've know for 40 years that they're safe to eat.

Chantrelles are a terrible pick here imo.

Chantrelles are very easy once you understand their characteristics, but I think it's irresponsible for the author to suggest just looking at some pictures of jack o lanterns and calling it a day.
