Given the above, what other Calvino work might appeal more to someone like me?

I added a few excellent authors, still famous but to a lesser degree, like Italo Calvino or Marguerite Yourcenar.

If On A Winter's Night A Traveller - Italo Calvino will just punch you in the face, this is a book for people who love reading books.

As a fan of Calvino I will say that If on a Winter’s Night a Traveller is somewhat more enjoyable after you've read a bunch of other Calvino, since it has a somewhat cheeky, self-referential feel and the more you sympathize with the author the more you may like it.

Specifically I thinking of Oulipo (which included Calvino as probably the most famous) on bringing new structures to literature including some generative ones which could be thought of as programming or combinatorics.

Am I the only one who sees this as a referential homage to Italo Calvino's "Invisible Cities"?

Not fiction or difficult, but I suggest Calvino's "Six Memos for the Next Millennium".

Calvino had a way of incorporating scientific and philosophical concepts within passionate human drama.

HN will rejoice to see Ted Chiang mentioned alongside Calvino, Hesse, Eco, Camus, and so many others.

Especially Calvino, Cormac, and PKD tend to be popular with math nerds.
