Couldn't I just subscribe to kumquats, ancient Mesopotamia, and The Buzzcocks groups on Facebook?

Still have Inspiral Carpets and Buzzcocks originals on vinyl.

I watched a couple of interviews with Manchester restaurateurs and, fashion wise, I noticed a couple of cats who would not look out of place at a Buzzcocks show in the late 70s.

You can tell an alternate history of music that deemphasizes the Sex Pistols where there was a New Wave that started in the early 70s with the New York Dolls or the Stooges or something, and it includes the Ramones, the Modern Lovers, the Buzzcocks and a whole lot more.

Consider a band like the Buzzcocks, all around friendly looking blokes but they pressed up their own 7" singles, that is the true spirit of punk.

The Buzzcocks, The Chameleons, James (before they went awful), Inspiral Carpets, The Fall, Crispy Ambulance, and millions* more.

Taking the easy route meant Green Day were shunned by their original fan base (somewhat justifiably so,) but they had more energy, raw talent, and Buzzcocks hooks than anything else on top 40 radio with the exception of Nirvana (which is why Warner was trolling for talent in the first place.) It's hard to call any "punk" bands sellouts after Nevermind.
