The boombox isn't just as intelligent as the dog, but it may be indistinguishable sound-wise from the dog.

It would be fairly easy to switch CDs and control the boombox without the use of sight.

So, if you see someone out busking with a lab microscope and a boombox, shouting something about face spiders, then chuck us a quid.

I'm curious why a simple CD player boombox wouldn't have been sufficient in this situation.

I wouldn't compare it to the boombox at all.

It's interesting that plugging in to recharge a car would be different from, say, plugging in a phone or boombox (the latter two would likely not have resulted in an arrest).

(Unless I carried a boombox on my shoulder, which some people did in awesome rap videos).

The second behavior given (use a boombox instead of your car's audio) of course could theoretically alter outcomes, but to my knowledge, there has never been a car exploit that depends on whether you have fiddled with the volume control or station selector.

And even after using tools like that, the final test is (and has long been) to listen to the program material in a car, on a boombox, on a phone, or whatever - just like in film, the director doesn't usually sign off on the final product until after taking it to a screening theater or putting it in the DVD/bluray player at home, as appropriate.

I saw someone ask the other day, "What kind of speakers do professional audio engineers use to make master recordings?" And the answer was to buy the lousiest chinese made boombox from Walmart.
