The rent is not bad for a nice, low-crime, walkable/bikeable, stuff-happenin' urban area, that's true.

Atlanta is walkable/bikeable if you live in the city, has the 3rd-largest gay population in the U.

Overall it's my impression that urban areas are much more walkable/bikeable than suburban ones.

Remote work is preferred, but relocation could work, especially if the location is warm, walkable/bikeable, and low crime.

The growing realization that walkable and bikeable cities are neato easily outpaces the ability to construct that into a reality in the US.

And somewhere bikeable to the city center, not out in the suburbs.

Berkeley and Palo Alto are both exceedingly walkable/bikeable as well (though taking public transit from Palo Alto to anywhere else can be a bit painful).

I guess I am blessed to live in a city (Nagoya) that is quite bikeable and has an adequate public transit system.

Mountain View is bikeable, sure, but it's not walkable.
