The point is, if you want to take the train, either book ahead (and maybe get a BahnCard 25), or get one of the other two.

If you sink ~7000 Euro into a Bahncard 100 first class, you can go mostly anywhere for free.

A BahnCard 25 gives you 25% off journeys, can be combined with saving offers and costs ~60€ per year.

Also, when you buy the BahnCard via PayPal, only the first time you'll be charged via PayPal.

Just for your example, a single from Munich->Berlin costs 65€ with a BahnCard 50, i.e.

A BahnCard 50 gives you 50% off journeys but cannot be combined with savings.

And if you get a BahnCard 50, the price cap for a return ticket is 140 € second class (~200 first class).

I just looked up my own BahnCard 25, turns out that I'm a week too late for cancellation.

Plus I have a BahnCard 100, which allows me to use the whole German train system for one year.

Deutsche Bahn also advertizes that they use renewable energy for my Bahncard travel and they will expand this over the coming decades to 100%.

I got a BahnCard 25 for 3 months, and one month before it expired, it automatically renewed for a full year.

A BahnCard 100 gives you 100% off journeys, i.e.

My request was declined and they "offered" to cancel my BahnCard for the next year, in 13 months!
