I'm a fan of Atom-based solutions -- the author is concerned about ECC, which is less of an issue for me.

Facebook has already come out with an Atom-based IDE, and it won't be the last.

When my Atom-based Vivotab Note runs at 100% CPU, it feels mildly warm.

Now that they changed their financial structure to be able to hide those subsidies/losses by also selling $160 Atom-based "Pentiums" for PCs, it will be even harder to figure out what Intel is doing.

If it did, Intel wouldn't dare to price a $30 chip five times higher or replace "Core"-based Celerons and Pentiums with Atom-based ones to trick 99% of its customers into thinking it's actually an upgrade.

My guess is something Atom-based, like the EEE Box, would save even more in electricity.
