Cisco who got killed by Arista in this market spent ~$100M and came up with the Nexus 3548.

Bonded 1G networking running up to Arista TORs and mutliple Arita Agg switches in a leaf / spine topology.

There also aren't many copper 10 gig top-of-rack switches, just the Cisco Nexus 3064T and Arista 7050T come to mind.

Neither Volkswagen nor Canon have shown any interest in smashing the Arista group's use of EOS.

Or, an even more basic thing would be to have not per-packet sampling+sFlow like Broadcom and other chips do, but also a primitive for "flow sampling" to get all packets for 1/Nth of flows (say, 1/1000th) to get sampled such decodes up on a daemon running on say Cumulus or Arista.

Essentially this gives you Python and C++ bindings to write apps that hook directly into Arista's networking stack.

Arista is linux based, Juniper is FreeBSD and Force10 is NetBSD (at least the older one were).

And the founder/chairman/chief development officer of Arista, Andy Bechtolsheim, is a board member and founder of the Open Compute Project.
