On day 3 or 5 of incubations the embryo is biopsied, and the genetic material is tested to make sure there are no aneuploidy defects.

Other studies have revealed age-related structural variation in human blood cells (14), aneuploidy and retrotransposition in the human brain (15, 16), and aneuploidy in human preimplantation embryos (17).

These can detect things like aneuploidy, NTDs, heritable conditions (like sickle cell), and even facial features if you check for them.

That said, you can have mosaic aneuploidy (just some cells are affected), in that case, your life is likely to be more typical.

Failure of assisted reproduction is mainly attributed to oocyte aging and increased aneuploidy.
