I been drinking iced americanos instead of cold brew for the last couple months and am happy now.

The only sources for "Americanos" originating in the 1970s is a dictionary entry and Wikipedia, neither of which are further sourced or authoritative.

Most coffee shops offer "americanos" (watered-down espresso) as the substitute for drip coffee.

You might see on many left-wing president's speeches, they start with "Hermanos Americanos" ("American Brothers"), which definitely does NOT include the USA:P.
