The Reuters article doesn't mention it, but apparently Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) [0] designed [1] this airport.

From the parametric architecture of Zaha Hadid and MAD architects to procedurally generated furniture designs and jewelry.

So one framing for what's happening now is Parametricism, a term coined by Patrik Schumacher and associated with the style of his business partner and firm: Zaha Hadid.

I think he most likely establishes the concept and his employeers or outside contractors materialize it for him, much like the late Zaha Hadid did.

Zaha Hadid software requirements would make your head spin.

Specifically Rhino/Grasshopper get used a lot for concept, schematic design, and then Revit gets used for design development and onward, especially at companies that work a lot with complex geometry (Zaha, SHoP).

Unstructured writing/rant: This was over 20 years ago, and maybe specific to context of the time, I guess more accurate to say many quickly converted to contemporary architecture (it was era of starchitects/Zaha/BIG/OMA/Gehry/sustainable design, less postmodern but still some).
