It has vim-like keybindings and normal/insert mode, plus a bunch of other features worth looking at.

Emacs having amazing extensibility, it makes perfect sense to me to give it a Vim-like interface.

To avoid this, Ket is a modal editor (built around Vim-like commands) in which keyboard letters correspond to simple editing commands.

Even then, it's not enough, and I find myself spending a ton of time rebinding emacs key bindings to make them more vim-like.

Aren't tiling window managers, and the revival of vim-like keybindings (vimperator, zathura...) somehow a bit of response to this demand?

I'd also recommend those that really hate emacs to try the console mode -- its much snappier and brings the monster closer to a vim-like experience.

Org-mode is for me the big attraction when moving from Vim to Emacs, and to give it Vim-like usability you really need to do a lot of remapping of Org functions (i.e., create Evil-mode map for Org functions), otherwise you'll be doing lots of chord-keying.

Most key bindings outside of editing are Vim-like, created by Vim users.
