Considering they get their cut whether the startup is real or not begs the question are they honestly diligent in vetting a project?

These are the bits of vetting that uber doesn't do, and turns a blind eye when people discuss how they work around uber's requirements for vetting [1].

There is definitely a need for a lot of them, like mandatory safety inspections, vetting of drivers, etc.

Purely in this one area (IDN homograph attacks), it might be an idea to look at the Chromium Unicode vetting rules (Which characters and combos get "punycoded") as they seem to be more conservative from a "Latin" perspective.
